![]() ![]() ![]() You start at level one with no equipment each season and what you get completely changes the way you play. Imo it's more than worth it as I'd say that D3 is one of if not the best Blizzard game right now. I say all this to say that if you want the best possible D3 experience, wait for a new season to start. So you have a game that is very dead for most of the time, but with periodical surges in popularity. The people that do play and enjoy the game mostly return for the start of each season and then leave. Eventually Blizzard finished, fixed and polished D3, audaciously in in the form of an expansion that cost as much as the full game, but it was too late and the masses had moved on.īasically now we have a game that is very good and polished, yet nowhere near as popular as it could've been. There was quite a bit of hype for it, but after it launched so poorly the masses lost interest. This was all before they jumped the shark and stopped reporting sub numbers and started directly selling gold to WoW players.įor all we know, D3's sacrifice worked and saved WoW, but the game itself was not received well, for good reasons. Not only that, they got greedy and experimented with a RMAH (real money auction house) in D3 to kill 2 birds with 1 stone. This was still a time where WoW was Blizzard's golden goose and there were still pretenses of purity and quality about it, so instead of making WoW more profitable they just threw D3 under the bus. They packaged it with the first "annual pass" marketing ploy, basically telling people that if they subscribe to WoW for a year they get D3 for free. ![]() Blizzard released it in an unfinished state during Cataclysm when subscriber numbers took a sharp nosedive and sent the corporation into a panic. D3 is a fantastic game with a sordid history. ![]()
